August 17: Celebrate Yurok Country’s 60th Annual Salmon Festival

For weeks, we’ve been buzzing with excitement about one of the most awaited events of the year—the 60th Annual Salmon Festival in Yurok Country! Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 17 for this year’s festivities.


What’s Happening at the 60th Annual Salmon Festival?

Ney’ Puey 5K Run

Kick off the day with the free Ney’ Puey 5K Run at 10:00 am. It’s a great way to get your blood pumping and enjoy the scenic beauty of Klamath.

Salmon Festival Parade

At 10:30 am, grab a spot to watch the vibrant Salmon Festival parade. Expect colorful floats, traditional attire, and a lively atmosphere as the community comes together to celebrate.

Traditional Salmon Dinner

One of the festival’s highlights is the salmon dinner, cooked the traditional Yurok way.

Stick Game Tournament

Get ready for some high-energy action with the Stick Game Tournament. This full-contact sport, resembling a mix of lacrosse and wrestling, is played by local tribes and is heavy on action and competition.

Indian Card Games Tournament

Try your luck and skills in the Indian Card Games Tournament, a favorite among festival-goers.


Basket Weaving Demonstration

Watch skilled artisans create beautiful and intricate baskets, showcasing a traditional craft that’s been passed down through generations.


Family Fun and Kids’ Activities

This is a family-friendly, free festival with a plethora of activities to keep the little ones entertained. Various contests, interactive games, and a host of vendors ensure that kids have just as much fun as the adults.

Explore the diverse array of vendors offering unique crafts, delicious food, and souvenirs.

Festival Parking & Free Shuttle

Parking for the festival is conveniently located off the Terwer Valley exit on Highway 101 (#769) on Klamath Mill Rd. Just follow the salmon signs! A quick shuttle will whisk you to the event site. Elder and disabled parking is available in the Redwood Hotel Casino parking lot.
