Here at the Yurok Country Visitor Center, we believe that the best way to celebrate Valentine’s Day—or any special occasion, really—is by making memories outside. After all, for most of us, there’s nothing quite like sharing a love of the outdoors to strengthen a relationship.
For couples looking for an epic Valentine’s Day itinerary (yes, even if you’ve been together for 20 years and want a trip worth bragging about!) we’ve got you covered.
Here’s the perfect romantic itinerary for adventure-driven couples.
Grab Breakfast at the Historic Requa Inn
The Historic Requa Inn offers breakfast to the public every day from 8:30 am - 9:30 am. It’s a casual, homestyle breakfast menu with a focus on classic American comfort food with dishes like biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and country potatoes.
Take A Hike
If we’re making a Valentine’s Day itinerary you know we have to include hiking. Located right in the heart of the redwoods, there’s no shortage of a good hike. And because the Redwood National Park is generally less crowded as far as national parks go, it’s even more sparse in the winter. Fortunately though, we don’t have to deal with winter temperatures.

To make planning easier, check out some of our hiking posts:
Wind Down with Drinks at the Willow Line Taproom
Drinks and small plates after a day hiking in the redwoods? Even Cupid is swooning. The Willow Line Taproom serves the classic favs on tap as well as local brews, like the Imperial Golden Ale from Redwood Curtain—a small brewery in Arcata.
Dinner at the Abalone Bar & Grill
Finish the day with dinner at the Abalone Bar & Grill located in the Redwood Hotel & Casino. There’s usually a Valentine’s Day special with prime rib, baked potato, and steamed veggies. If you’re not ready for the night to end, there’s a cocktail menu and outdoor seating complete with firepits and axe throwing.
